This activity is great for extending your child's knowledge and understanding of the world around them, as they learn about different types of food and where they come from. It's also a good way of developing their fine motor skills as they prepare ingredients and handle utensils. And it teaches them an important life skill - how to prepare tasty, nutritious meals (and the occasional yummy treat!).
How to extend the fun
Ask your child if they know what olives are and what they can be eaten with. Explain that they are small, oval-shaped and usually green, black or purple in colour. There are lots of different varieties. They are often eaten as a snack, with bread, and can be added to salads and other dishes. Some people like them as toppings on pizzas.
