Introduction
This picture tale will help to develop your child’s language and literacy skills, as they listen to you read the text that appears on the screen. Reading this story with your child is a great way of encouraging them to enjoy books and the whole process of storytelling. You can print out the story at the end and your child can colour in the pictures.
How to extend the magic
Why not create a special storytelling den in the corner of the room and come up with your own 'happy ever after' fairy tale. Your story could be set in a forest or a castle and could feature fairies, magic spells, a king and a queen, a prince and princess, a baddie (such as a wicked witch or nasty troll - like the one in 'The Billy Goats Gruff). Just begin your story with 'Once upon a time...' and have fun making up the rest!
