Lift off make

Introduction

Creating this mini lift with its cable and pulley system will help to develop your child's knowledge and understanding of the world around them, and how things are operate. It will also help to improve their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they cut out sections of the cardboard box to make the lift and use the binder clips and piece of cord to create a cable and pulley system. The make is quite difficult and you'll need to be on hand throughout to help your child.

How to extend the magic

Explain that lifts allow people to move up and down a building without using stairs. Have a little game pretending that you are waiting for a lift to take you somewhere. Where will you go and who will you see? Maybe you are waiting for the Show Me Show Me lift to visit Chris and Pui. Click through to the Show Me Show Me pages and then click on the theme song. Cuddle up with your child and count the floors from 1 to 10!
