Introduction
This activity is great for extending your child's knowledge and understanding of the world around them, as they learn about different types of food and where they come from. It's also a good way of developing their fine motor skills as they prepare ingredients and handle utensils. And it teaches them an important life skill - how to prepare tasty, nutritious meals (and the occasional yummy treat!).
How to extend the fun
Explain that butter is a key ingredient in shortbread. Ask your child what they know about butter. Explain that it is soft, yellow and made from milk. It can be spread on bread or used to cook with to make things like cakes, puddings and biscuits, such as shortbread.
