This activity will help to develop your child's knowledge and understanding of the world around them as they learn about seeds and how they grow into baby plants. It will also help them to develop their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they draw a face on the pot, press the cotton wool into the pot and use their finger tips to sprinkle the seeds on top. The only part of the activity your child will struggle with is having the patience to wait for the cress to grow!
How to extend the magic
Have some fun trying to grow different coloured 'hair' on your cress heads. Add some food colouring to the cotton wool and you may be rewarded with some crazy hairdos! When the cress is fully grown, give your cress heads a trim and sprinkle the cress over a bowl of salad or mix a little in with a sandwich filling.
