Introduction
Constructing this make is a great way of helping your child to develop their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they cut, stick, paint and decorate the boxes to create the box buildings. They can experiment with different colours, shapes and textures along the way. It's quite a fiddly make for small hands, so you'll need to be on hand to help your child.
How to extend the magic
Ask your child about the sizes and shapes of the buildings they have created on their street - see if they can point out the buildings which are tall, short, wide and narrow. Mention that they are rectangular in shape and explain that a rectangle has four sides. Do they know another shape that has four sides? What about a shape that has three sides?
