Introduction
This activity is great for extending your child's knowledge and understanding of the world around them, as they learn about different types of food and where they come from. It's also a good way of developing their fine motor skills as they prepare ingredients and handle utensils. And it teaches them an important life skill - how to prepare tasty, nutritious meals (and the occasional yummy treat!).
How to extend the fun
Talk about apples - how they can be different colours (yellow, red and green), how they grow on trees and how they are crunchy when you eat them. What other fruits can your child name? Which one is their favourite?
How to make a magic moment
Help your child to make a simple chef's hat. Take a large piece of white paper or card (which will sit like a tall tube on their head) and measure how much you'll need so it fits snugly around their forehead. Then let your child decorate the paper/card using crayons, stickers, etc. Once they've finished designing their hat, fix it together at the back with tape or staples... and you're good to go!
