Clifford, a dog that is taller than a two-storey house, has a very loving owner called Emily Elizabeth and two dog friends, Cleo and T-Bone.

Clifford always tries to do the right thing, but mistakes happen which adds to the fun and sense of adventure. The programme also deals sensitively with personal and social issues, for example, friendship through incidents and adventures on Birdwell Island.
