  • Children make sense of the world around them by using their senses: tasting, touching, seeing, hearing and smelling.
  • As their world broadens, the other senses become important, such as feeling and tasting, especially when they are toddlers.
  • You the parent can extend and broaden your child's experiences by exploring and investigating your local environment using the appropriate senses.
  • Go for outings with a definite finding out agenda.
  • Children can also explore making their own colour chart of tones and shades.
  • Talk to your child about what they have created.
