Play Dough - making the dough

Black and white print out of a Fimble

Make the dough to make the Play Dough Fimble

Remember to ask a grown-up for help.

You will need:

This should take about 60 minutes
  • Print-out (1 page)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 1 heaped cup of plain flour
  • 1 cup of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of cream of tartar
  • Food colouring
  • Fimble template - print out

Step 1

Play dough

Ask an adult to help you place all the main ingredients into a large saucepan.

Mix well and stir constantly over a moderate heat until the mixture binds (don't worry if the mixture sticks to the bowl!).

Keep stirring until it forms a dry, stiff but pliable dough.

The dough may go lumpy at first but try to knead out all the lumps.

Allow the dough to cool.

Store in a plastic container in the fridge.

The dough should keep for 3 to 4 weeks depending on usage.
