The bird with the multi-coloured beak
- The toucan has an amazing bill. It's often very colourful and, compared to its body, incredibly large.
- The bill might look heavy but it is actually very light and fragile. The outer shell is supported by lots of thin bony supports, a bit like scaffolding.
- The toco toucan has a bill that's around 19cm long, almost a third of its total length.
- Toucans recognise each other by the colour and pattern of their bills.
