Peel off the skin and leave the stalk in place for the top of the head.
Sketch the face you want to carve onto the apple.
Use the pointed part of the peeler or a plastic knife to sculpt a face.
If you like you can make tiny slits in the heads and add dried banana pieces for ears, seeds for eyes or currants for rotten teeth.
Push the faces onto paintbrushes or garden canes and leave them to dry. Be patient – it will take about four weeks for the apples to dry out and shrink completely.
Once it's dried you'll be left with this funny face!
