The Doctor is a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. He is almost a thousand years old, has two hearts and can regenerate himself when his body is in extreme physical danger. He loves travelling in time in his TARDIS, fighting injustice wherever he encounters it and pitting himself against Daleks, Cybermen and dozens of other alien evils.
When he first met Sarah Jane Smith, she was a working as a journalist. She shared the same passion for adventure and embraced the excitement and dangers of Time Travel. Together they battled monsters like the Sontarans, Zygons and giant spiders! No wonder he once called her his 'best friend'!
But when the Doctor had to return to Gallifrey, the ancient laws of his home planet forbid him to take his companion, so he dropped her off on Earth. The Time Lord never forgot his feisty friend and years later they teamed up again and the Tenth Doctor has been by her side for several adventures... just like old times!
