Fergus Flanagan from Help! my Supply Teacher is Still Magic joined us to show off this amazing card trick. Check out the video above and then follow Fergus's step-by-step guide below to wow your friends with your magic skills!
To explain how the trick’s done, I’m going to show you it
with the four aces facing up during each step.
When you show your friends, remember the cards need to be face down!
Okay, to start off, place the four aces on the top of the
deck. (Do this before you bring the
cards out, so your audience doesn’t know they are there).
Hold the pack and cut it into four stacks (or packets) from left to right, by dropping each new packet from the bottom of the deck.
You should now have four packets about the same height – with the aces all on the top of the right hand packet.
Pick up the packet on the far left. Then take three cards from the top and put
them on the bottom.
Now deal one card on top of each of the other packets.
Put the first packet back down in its original
position on the left hand side.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 with the second and third packets.
You will also repeat steps three and four with
the final packet, but we’ll go through that more slowly in a moment so you can
see what happens.
When you get to the final packet, you’ll see the
aces now have three cards on top of them.
As you repeat steps 3 and 4 with this final packet,
the top three cards will be moved to the bottom of the packet, revealing the
As you repeat step 4 and deal a card onto each of the three packets
on the table, you will end up with aces on top of all the packets.
(At the moment the aces are only facing upwards
because I am demonstrating the trick to you.
When you perform the trick for real, these cards will be face down).
Now it’s time for the big reveal. Make a magical gesture by clicking your
fingers over each packet, or say a magic word.
Now turn the cards over and amaze your audience by revealing the aces
have miraculously moved to the top of each stack!
You don’t even need to deal the cards yourself. Once you have mastered the trick, why not try
asking a member of your audience to perform steps 2 to 9 above? See how stunned they are when they reveal the
aces without you even touching the cards!
