Join in with Blue Peter's Wildlife City and attract butterflies to your garden by making a butterfly cafe from a plastic bottle.
Try making a Bird Bath or a Bee Hotel too!
Take a plastic bottle of
Very carefully cut off the
bottom third with scissors
Punch a hole through the
lid with scissors (ask an adult for help!) and push a piece of string through. Tie a knot in the end of the string so it doesn’t
pull all the way through the bottle cap.
Cut the sides of the
plastic bottle into petal shapes ensuring you don’t cut too far down so it will
still hold water.
Punch two holes either side
for string to be pulled through so it can be hung from a tree of a post.
Decorate brightly and then
fill with sugar water: 1 teaspoon soy
sauce, 1 teaspoon of sugar and mix with water. Your cafe is now ready to be
hung outside ready for the butterflies.
