Have you read the book? I'd love to know what you thought of it!
- What was your favourite story from the book?
- Did you enjoy the cat stories, or dog stories more?
- Did you enjoy reading about the authors' own pets?
I'd love to know!

Paws and Whiskers is a collection of animal stories chosen by Jacqueline Wilson. In the book there are stories by lots of different authors, including Malorie Blackman and Michael Morpurgo, Enid Blyton and Lewis Carroll.
There are stories and extracts from novels old and new, all about animals, and they are chosen by Jacqueline Wilson, who loves pets. At the beginning of each story Jacqueline Wilson tells us what she likes about it and there is a section where she and the other authors talk about their pets too.
There is also a brand new story in the book written by Jacqueline Wilson called Leonie’s Pet Cat, all about a girl who pretends she has a pet cat in order to fit in with the pet club and make friends at her new school, her fibbing gets a bit out of control and she has to seek help from her favourite author (and their pet cat!)

If you love animals, you will love this book, regardless of whether you have a family pet or not! The book is split into three sections – there are lots of stories about cats, lots of stories about dogs and in the middle a section dedicated to some of your favourite authors talking about their real-life pets!
I love dogs and I thought I would enjoy the dog stories much more, but I actually loved lots of the cat stories! There are stories about flying cats, boys who swap bodies with their cats, sheep-dogs, and rescued greyhounds!
There are stories that are new and some that are classics such as Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass and Dodie Smith's The Hundred and One Dalmations. One of my favourite stories in the book is Rudyard Kipling's The Cat that Walked by Himself - it's quite an old-fashioned tale but still a brilliant read - and in contrast Jacqueline Wilson's story Leonie's Pet Cat - the newest story of all - is also a favourite. It reminds me of some of the clubs me and my friends used to have at school and just how much I wanted a pet!
This book is full of different types of stories all bundled into one but they all have one thing in common - they're about our four-legged friends!
