Take your printed greenbird template and cut around all of the template objects. Stick all of them onto flat card (your cereal box), except the wheels which need to be stuck on to corrugated card.

Cut out all templates, then score and fold along the dotted lines. Ask an adult to help you with this.

Carefuly pierce the mast hole in the 'body upper'. It is marked by a cross. Ask an adult to help you.

Bend one straw fully and cut level with the short section. (You will have a long peice of straw which you will save for later and your bended piece pictured above.) Now cut two slits into both ends of the bended piece of straw.

Making the outrigger: Bend over the ends 2 new straws (to a right angle) and slot both into the 2 slits you’ve cut in the last step. Shape the straws so they are aligned and forming a p shape, and then tape together.

To make the spine of your car, take two straws. At the non bend end of one of the straws, make a slit 5cm long, and with the non bend end of the other, slot them together. Bend the ends of the straws. You have used 5 straws so far!

Your remaining straw will be used as a mast. Put the straw through the mast hole that you made earlier, and tape it down in the inside of the body.

Fix the outrigger straws to the 'body lower' and tape down inside.

Put PVA glue on the joints of the 'body upper ' and glue the back flap down. Also put some glue on the joints of the 'body lower'. Stick the 'body lower' part into the 'body upper' and secure. Now stick the spine to the bottom of the completed body (at the front end).

Use a pin to make a hole in the centre of each wheel (marked with a cross).

Use a pin to make a hole through the straws where the wheels will be attached (on front of spine, back of spine and on outrigger).

Use the pin as an axel and put it back through the holes, attaching the wheel in the middle of the straws (as shown). Put a piece of tack on the end of the pin so that the sharp end isn’t exposed. Repeat this for the remaining wheels.

The sail: Fold the sail along the score line and push the edges so that the top curls and tape in place.

Fold and stick down the tail. Use the remaining part of the straw you cut earlier. Cut a slit through the middle of one end of the staw (about 3 cm), and slot and stick in the tail.

Tape the tail to the flat part of the sail as shown.

Push the completed sail and tail over the mast straw, and angle.

Well done, your greenbird wind racer is now complete! Use a hair dryer (on low heat) to test it out indoors!

This make is a little tricky, so take a look at the diagram in the 'you will need section' above for extra guidance.
