Step 1

Five conkers in a circle

Choose the right conker to customise - it must be quite large, smooth and round.

Step 2

Googly eyes stuck on a conker.

Glue the googly eyes to the top third of the conker. If you can't find googly eyes, you can make eyes from black and white card.

Step 3

Googly eyes and feet stuck on a conker.

Cut out some feet - we used black card but you could use paper or felt. Stick these to the bottom of your conker using PVA glue.

Step 4

Wool twirled round fingers to make hair.

If you want your conker to have hair, you can make it by twirling wool around your finger and securing with a smaller amount of wool.

Step 5

Cut the loops at either side of the wool.

Then cut the loops on each side, trim to the right length, and stick to the top of your conker.

Step 5

Ears, eyes nose and tongue cut out of felt.

To make a Barney conker, you will need to make a tongue, ears and a tail. You can make these from anything you like - we used felt and modelling clay.

Step 6
