
Rules and Regulations for the Blue Peter Book Awards 2010

1. The BBC reserves the right to request proof of age, identity and parent/guardian consent (where applicable) from the finalists in the Blue Peter Book Awards.
2. The judging will now consist of 2 stages. In the first stage 9 finalists will be chosen by a panel consisting of 2 industry experts and the Editor of Blue Peter. The second and final stage will consist of a judging panel of 7 children choosing a winner in each of the 3 categories:
3. The criteria used to judge the finalists are listed on the Blue Peter and Booktrust website.
4. In the event of a tie, in either of the 2 stages, the Head Judge in the relevant panel will have the casting vote.
5. Entrants can only submit their own original work and, by doing so, declare that their submission does not breach any copyright laws or any other rights of any 3rd party.
6. The BBC’s decision as to the winners is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
7. The prizes received by the 3 category winners are the Blue Peter Book Awards Trophy. There is no cash alternative and the prize cannot be sold or transferred in any circumstances.
8. The shortlisted entrants may be filmed and/or interviewed and will be required to assign to the BBC the copyright and other rights for all purposes (incl. use in all media now known or which may hereafter become known) in their contribution for broadcast for the full period of copyright and any extensions, revivals or renewals thereof.
9. The shortlisted entrants will grant the BBC the unlimited right to edit, copy, add to, take from, adapt or translate their contributions for broadcast.
10. Contributions cover all contributions made by the shortlisted entrants in connection with the production of the Blue Peter program including but not limited to their performance (incl. rehearsals) and spoken, written and artistic materials (incl. audio and video recordings thereof).
11. Entrants must agree to take part in any post - Awards publicity if required.
12. The shortlisted entrants and winners will be announced prior to broadcast and must therefore agree to keep details of the Blue Peter Book Award results confidential until after the winners have been announced on Blue Peter. Finalists will be required to sign the Confidentiality Agreement attached
