Terms and Conditions

These pages explain exactly how Basil's Swap Shop works.
This includes how to apply to be part of a swap and how items are chosen for swapping.
It is important that you also read the full Terms and Conditions with your parent/guardian and agree to them, before applying to take part in a swap.
After reading them you and you parent/guardian should be really clear about what you are agreeing to by applying to take part in a swap.
Before you send us any personal information you must have your parent / guardian's permission. To apply to take part in a swap you must have your parent / guardian's permission, be a UK resident and be aged 15 or under (as of 9th January 2009).
In applying to take part in a swap you confirm that you or your parent / guardian own the item you are offering to swap and that it is in good condition.
A Swapper is a person who is offering up something to swap and wants something in return. Swappers can say what they want in exchange for their item or they can offer to swap for anything.
A Swappee is a person who wants an item offered by a Swapper and has something to offer in return. Always ask a parent or guardian before calling.
A number of the swaps will only be made available on the website and not on the phone lines. These are called Web Exclusives. Web Exclusive swaps will be posted as closed on the website as they are arranged. All Web Exclusive swaps will close by 5pm each Thursday at the latest. All other swaps will close as they are made during the live show.
We will make every effort to let you, the audience, know as soon as a swap is closed on the website. Due to technical issues, there may sometimes be a short delay between us closing a swap and making this clear on the site.
Calls or emails received after a swap has been announced as closed will not be considered. Calls may still be charged.
There are up to ten swaps each week. We intend to make these available on the website by 11am each Saturday during the run of the live show.
One of the swaps offered up each week may be a live celebrity swap. This will be an item offered up by that week's celebrity guest on the live show. This swap will only be opened from the beginning of the live show.
All of the personal details you provide through our website or when you call us will be used by the BBC and a company named The Foundation TV Productions Ltd, which is helping CBBC make Basil's Swap Shop. Your personal details, like your name and address, will only be used to help us find swappers and swapees for Basil's Swap Shop and will not be shared with anyone else. If you or your parent or guardian want to know more about how the BBC uses any personal details please see online at www.bbc.co.uk/privacy.
