Blue Peter: We asked Nick from Springwatch your questions
Nick Baker who presents Springwatch Unsprung took some time out of his busy schedule to answer some of your questions for the CBBC website.
Read his answers below...
IndigoWhizzingTurkey: Is there an animal you are afraid of?
Nick: The Director!
IvoryEnormousCurrant: What is your favourite bird and why?
Nick: The ring ouzel.
SlateGreyJellyFirefly: What is your favourite animal?
Nick: The wasp.
DiamondActingOtter: If you weren't a Springwatch presenter what would you be and why?
Nick: Most of the year I’m not presenting Springwatch, so I get involved in all sorts of things.
DiamondActingOtter: Who was your inspiration?
Nick: Gerald Durrell, who was a zookeeper, naturalist and author and later Chris Packham!
PurpleCookingDingo: What advice can you give to me about nature to help me earn my green Blue Peter badge?
Nick: Volunteer with your local wildlife trust or group. Do stuff! Get out there and be involved.
DiamondSkippingChipmunk: What’s the most interesting thing you've ever spotted?
Nick: Just last week I saw my very first great silver diving beetle here at Springwatch!
CarnelianRacingStarfish: How would someone start watching wildlife?
Nick: Sit down, be quiet and open your eyes…
EmeraldDrumElephant: If you were a wild animal what would it be?
Nick: A grey parrot, I like living and they live a long time!
OnyxRockFirefly: If you were to go back in time to your 12 year old self, what advice would you give?
Nick: Always pump up your bicycle tyres properly!
OnyxRockFirefly: Do you own any animal printed clothes if so which is your favourite?
Nick: If you’ve been watching you’ll know I have loads! Mostly printed with insects.
IvoryKiteCroc: What is your favourite animal on Springwatch?
Nick: After Martin and Michaela, it would be the great silver diving beetle.
PeridotFootieBuzzard: Is there any animal you haven't met yet?
Nick: I’d love to see a pink fairy armadillo, but if we’re talking uk wildlife then a dotterel, a Norfolk hawker and an adult swallowtail butterfly in the wild.
IndigoBiscuitRobot: What are your hobbies?
Nick: Wildlife, cycling, loud music and being a dad.
AmethystDivaLOL: Why are moths attracted to light?
Nick: That’s a question with a long answer! We don’t really know, it might be linked to navigation.
RedCalmToucan: What is the rarest animal you have found?
Nick: A Namibian rubber frog!
QuartzLeapingCherry: Do you think people should tame foxes?
Nick: If by taming, you mean feeding – it must be done responsibly and at the very bottom of your garden, not so often that foxes become reliant on the food that you leave. Taming wildlife often costs at a cost, it’s best to take advice and be responsible.
LimeSpottyFarmer: What has your scariest moment been?
Nick: When I dropped all my presenter cards and notes live on air! And when I swallowed a meal worm live!
RedBlackQuirkyStarfish: If you had a superpower what would it be?
Nick: To remember my lines when I’m on TV!
