CBBC Office: CrystalSportyPegasus's Review: After Tomorrow
By CrystalSportyPegasus says...
"‘After Tomorrow’ is a book written by Gillian Cross. It is set in the future, hence the name ‘After Tomorrow’ and is about a situation where food is running out and money is worthless.
The plot is about a teenager called Matt, his little brother Taco (an unusual name for a boy!), their step dad and mum, who decide to flee to France after being attacked by a gang of armed raiders. Unfortunately, they are urged to leave their mum behind. Another disaster rushes up to meet them as there is no longer space for any more evacuees in France. As a result they get sent to a refugee camp with poor conditions and a makeshift shelter where they spend the rest of their lives. Living with limitations on food, clothes and the thought of never seeing mum alive again, will they survive?
My favourite part was when Paige, Matt and Taco's friend, were able to speak French fluently, unlike her father, Bob. I disliked it when Taco got bitten by a rat whilst ferreting through an empty bag of rice.
I loved reading this book because it was an action packed page turner and hope you all will enjoy reading it too!"
