Casualty - The Parting of the Ways, will premiere on BBC Red Button. It will then also be available right here on www.bbc.co.uk/casualty at around 9pm on Saturday 31 October, and as a downloadable mobisode.
Screened directly after the transmission of Casualty episode nine on BBC One, the eight-minute mini-episode will follow the gritty and dramatic storyline of down-and-out Alistair (Joe McFadden) and paramedic Polly (Sophia di Martino).
Episode 9.1 Casualty - The Parting of The Ways will pick up Alistair and Polly's story from the end of the televised episode nine and will focus on the dark seven days until the start of episode ten (transmitting on BBC One on Saturday 7 November).
Slowly following Alistair's descent into madness, the webisode portrays the seedy underbelly of life on the streets as we watch him pushed to the absolute limit ... foreshadowing the horrors to come.
Written and devised by Casualty script editor David Roden, the mini episode was made in close consultation with actor Joe McFadden and was designed to present a grittier, rawer view of Casualty and delve more deeply into the character and problems of Alistair.
"We are always looking at new ways to add value for our loyal fans and this innovative mini-episode will open a window on a hitherto unseen world and give viewers access to a character they wouldn't have in a normal episode," says executive producer Belinda Campbell. "David, Joe and Sophia have worked really hard to make this a really special viewing opportunity for die-hard Casualty lovers".
Says Joe McFadden: "It was really interesting to shoot in a very different way and great fun to explore my character in a bit more depth and show a gritty side of Casualty that viewers don't normally get to see."

We can exclusively reveal details about the next group of Junior F2 Doctors to join Casualty this September... and the big news is that there will be 8 of them.
Like Ruth and Toby before, the new F2s will join Holby's ED on a training year to learn what it is like to work in a busy emergency department and see what highs and lows it brings. Worryingly, it seems that not all eight F2s will still be doctors by the end of their year at Casualty...
In the new series of the BBC1 drama, amongst the 8 new F2s are:
Georgia Moffett (Doctor Who, The Bill) who plays new F2 Heather, who just can't wait to get cracking on her first day in the job - but finds the pressure piled on during her first shift. However, being Heather she won't let anything stand in her way.
Steven Miller plays the intriguingly named Dr Lenny Lyons, a firecracker in the department who puts more than a few noses out of joint.
Newcomer Will Sharpe joins the cast as Dr Yuki Reid, a brilliant but painfully shy doctor.
And, Laura Aikman (Personal Affairs, The Mysti Show) joins as May Phelps - a doctor with a secret.
So far we've had no suggestion as to whether we'll meet the new F2's families, or even if they have on screen love lives. But time will tell, and we'll be here to bring you the F2's stories as they unfold!

After the spectacular conclusion of series 23, details are beginning to emerge about the forthcoming 24th series of Casualty. Returning to our screens in September, the show promises to be bigger and better than ever when it launches with an emotional and pyrotechnic double bill called 'Dawn of the ED'.
So, what does series 24 hold in store? Well, we meet 8 new junior doctors in the department, though not all of them will still be doctors by the end of the series; there's an inquest; there's a wedding; Polly's life is turned upside down by the arrival of the mysterious Alistair; an old face from the past returns; Ruth gets a shock when an unexpected patient turns up in ED; and, Zoe gets a surprise when she discovers her latest fella is not what he seems.
We are exclusively revealing the titles of the first ten episodes here:

Joe McFadden will be appearing in the new series of Casualty, which starts in the autumn. Joe plays new character, Alistair, a homeless guy who pushes paramedic Polly to the limits.
Joe is probably best known for his portrayal of PC Joe Mason in Heartbeat, but has also appeared in Cranford, Judge John Deed and The Crow Road. Joe previously appeared in Casualty in 2007 when he played a character trapped in a sewer on his stag night.
