Brilliant, decisive, charismatic, enigmatic, tough, vulnerable, driven by ego, champions the underdog. A great strategist.
Mortality; the waning of his powers and losing his status; his condition.
Was to become the greatest living Cardio Thoracic Surgeon. Now, it's to hang onto his status as long as possible, and to leave a positive legacy.
Emergency medicine is Nick's domain, and here he is King. His ambition is to make Holby City Emergency Department the best in the country, and nothing will stand in his way.
Born Niccolo Jordan in the East End of London to an Italian mother.
There've been plenty of women in Nick's life, including Jac from Holby's cardiology ward. There was Ruth, briefly. And, now, there's Zoe...
Jordan's been diagnosed as having a grade four glioblastoma multiforme - a high grade malignant brain tumour near the Broca's area. The Broca's area is the section of the human brain that is involved in language processing, speech or comprehension.
The brain tumour is deemed inoperable. Surgery would only be able to remove 50 percent of the tumour, and due to its location, there is a huge risk that the operation would leave Jordan brain damaged or with potential total loss of speech. Treatment options therefore consist of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. However these treatments do not offer a cure, they only prolong life by a few months. Jordan has been told he could have up to six months to live.
Jordan never allows himself to falter. But his condition is growing worse, and he's struggling to hide it from his colleagues. Adam already knows... and he and Jordan have an uneasy truce. Jordan has agreed not to treat patients in resus without Adam being present. After his massive fit in resus, Jordan has now told Charlie and Zoe of his condition.
Jordan left Holby at the end of series 23 without telling anyone where he was going. He checked himself into a seaside hotel and prepared himself for the inevitable. After a serious collapse in the hotel, Zoe managed to track him down - and rushed him into St James's hospital. There she faked his signature on a consent form allowing surgeons to operate on his brain tumour.
Surviving the operation, Jordan was informed that his tumour had been downgraded to a Grade 3 Anaplastic Oligodendroglioma, and he potentially has five more years to live.
Jordan is now beginning the long road to recovery...
