Baby-faced, streetwise, cool, fun, proud.
On one hand, Curtis is clearly a street boy - cool, into his music, proud of his black roots and full of fun; on the other, he doesn't drink, he doesn't smoke, he respects authority and he's a regular church-goer. There's always the sense of a slight conflict within him - a sense that he's trying to move on from something. Occasionally he'll surprise Jeff and Dixie by knowing more about drug cases than they'd expect. Or he'll identify the kind of knife that made a wound. He's afraid of his past coming back to haunt him. Or perhaps more accurately - he's afraid of being pulled back in...
Curtis grew up on the estates of Farmead, a deprived area of Holby. The youngest of three sons, he found his salvation in the Church. It was there he decided to join the ambulance service.
His mother, Beverley, always said he looked like a cherub and he still does - but despite his angelic features he's got the charm of the devil. Sometimes his enthusiasm and energy may slip into anger; a hint of violence.
His relationship with Alice blossomed, until he unceremoniously dumped her - for seemingly no reason! But when Alice discovered that it was to protect her from Farmead gang leader Tony she quickly forgave Curtis - and they began meeting in secret. But their deception was swiftly uncovered by Tony, and Alice was brutally beaten as a punishment.
