October marks the 145th anniversary of the Barbadian cultural society known as the Landship.
The 'landship' is widely known in Barbados as a cultural dance taking the formation of an old British naval vessel, although some experts suggest this was more rooted in Barbados' African heritage. There are also elements indicating that it might have had a wider social purpose including that of a credit union. However, as the cultural institution celebrates this landmark some questions are being raised about its future.
