Core benefits

We offer a range of core benefits that all our employees are entitled to:

  • Twenty-five days annual leave, plus an additional BBC Corporation Day off between Christmas and New Year
  • Pension: on joining the BBC, you become eligible to join our defined contribution scheme, known as LifePlan
  • Life assurance

Voluntary benefits

In addition, we offer optional benefits that you can choose to participate in through a deduction from your pay, via salary sacrifice, saving on tax and National Insurance. These include:

  • Buy or sell holiday - up to five days annual leave per year
  • Health assessments - choose from a variety of assessments and save tax and National Insurance on the cost
  • Cycle to Work Scheme - save VAT, tax and National Insurance on the cost of a bike up to £1,000
  • Childcare vouchers - pay your child carer through this scheme and save up to around £1,000 per year in tax and National Insurance, depending on your salary and tax circumstances

We also offer other optional benefits that can be paid through net pay deductions.  These include:

BBC employees also have the option to join the BBC Club, an independent, not-for-profit members' club exclusively for employees of the BBC and its partners; providing social and recreational facilities, discounts and benefits.

Using our purchasing power as a large UK employer, we are also able to offer a range of discounts on goods and services, such as private medical cover, BBC products, mobile phones, clothing, travel and gyms. 

BBC employees also receive membership of NextJump: a provider of discounts and deals to hundreds of UK retailers.
