Senior Content Producer

Tom Hodgkinson

Senior Content Producers (SCPs) work within several BBC divisions and departments, including Vision, Audio and Music and Children’s. SCPs are editorially and technically responsible for what is published on the BBC website. They might be embedded within a TV production team such as Bang Goes the Theory or Watchdog, or alternatively working on an exclusively Multiplatform project such as the BBC Explore the Solar System or BBC Lab UK websites.

People in this role are experts in content production systems, blogs and social media and regularly champion the programme brands in the multiplatform environment, ensuring the editorial tone for the multiplatform content meets audience/user needs. SCPs have sharp copywriting skills and are fully across BBC Editorial Guidelines. Many are also able to work with HTML and Photoshop. Providing editorial support for what works best on the web, technical support where needed, and commissioning new content is also part of the job.

If you’re self motivated and excited by what multiplatform technology is capable of in terms of story telling and interaction, an SCP role could be for you.
