Assistant Producers (APs) for BBC Radio work with Broadcast Assistants, Producers, Executive Producers and Presenters. It’s a multi-faceted role revolving around the production of audio.
Some of the things this job involves include editing audio – be that music, trails or interviews - loading tracks in and coming up with ideas for features. Knowledge of BBC Producers Guidelines, media law and Editorial Guidelines is crucial.
The job can include long hours and time pressures but an AP will be in a position to understand what makes their station tick. The excitement of live broadcasting, using creativity and working in a team makes for a highly varied and rewarding job.
