London

London is home to several iconic BBC buildings and over the years has played host to countless BBC productions and events.

It was the location of the BBC’s very first radio broadcast in 1922 and since then our facilities across the city have grown and adapted alongside changes in the broadcasting industry.

Major redevelopment work is underway at one of our most famous buildings, Broadcasting House in the heart of London.

It will be the new iconic home of all our national and international journalism, bringing the World Service and the domestic news service together in one venue for the first time. The new building will become one of the largest integrated live newsrooms anywhere in the world.

This building will also contain all of the BBC's national radio networks and music services, with a combined staff of over 5,500 providing content for a global audience of 285 million people.

The studios and offices of Television Centre in the west of London continue to provide a home for entertainment programmes including Strictly Come Dancing and live music shows such as Later with Jools Holland.

The nearby BBC Media Village is the production base of programmes such as Top Gear, Bang Goes the Theory and the One Show. It’s also the main offices of BBC Worldwide, our commercial division and a central hub for the Future Media and Technology divisions, providing many of our interactive services and content.

Further north, Elstree Studios is best known as the home of Eastenders and Holby City – its purpose built studios and free-standing sets providing a perfect environment for the intense filming schedules of continuing drama production.
