The Huntingdonshire RSPB has raised £60,000 since they started in 1982!

They have held and sat through 248½ hours of meetings (142 slide/film shows)!

The group has seen in 10-dawn choruses followed by fried breakfast in such places as Grafham Water, Hinchingbrooke Park, & Woodwalton Fen. Who came on the walk where we got in the pub by 8am? Yes 8am!

The Huntingdonshire RSPB group are 20 years old and a whole host of VIP's will be helping them celebrate!

RSPBThe Huntingdonshire RSPB local group organises monthly lectures on various wild life topics from September through to April at the St Ives Free Church, every last Wednesday of the month.

Various walks, guided tours and mini bus trips are also part of the programme held throughout the year.

Since the Huntingdonshire group started they have enjoyed 203 bird watching excursions, 46 social events, 29 conservation work parties and presented 142 slide lectures. A huge total of £60,000 has been raised and donated to the RSPB as a result of all these activities.

Get down to Birds in the Park

» On Wednesday 25th September the RSPB Chief Executive, Graham Wynne, will give an illustrated talk "Past Successes, Future Challenges" at St Ives Free Church at 7.30pm (Local group members free, non-members £2.00)

Those attending are lucky to have the opportunity to meet and talk to Graham who is in charge of the RSPB.

» This will be followed by an Anniversary Conference "Birds in the Park" on Saturday 28th September in the Countryside Centre at Hinchingbrooke Country Park.

To mark the occasion the Hunts RSPB have brought together four celebrity speakers from the birding world, headed by Baroness Young of Old Scone, who is the Chief Executive of the Environment Agency.

There will be an opportunity to examine and buy the latest optical equipment and also on display will be a pictorial history of the group’s activities and achievements.

» They are hoping to meet many friends old and new - but tickets must be purchased in advance for the conference.
