Joan aims a sledgehammer at Jim (ITV)
Joan the geriatric gyrator
She lists pole dancing among her hobbies and wing-walking as her ambition. Not so strange, I hear you say... until you realise that Joan is 74. Meet our eccentric supergran!
Thrust into the headlines following her televised audition for the ITV1 show, Britain's Got Talent, 74-year-old Joan Gallagher is taking it all in her stride and even relishing the attention!
If you missed Joan's first appearance on television, don't despair as she's back on our screens on Saturday 31st May in a special Britain's Got Talent Extra on ITV1 at 10pm.

Let's face it, she looks a bit like a little old lady who lives with too many cats... but this feisty granny from Wisbech isn't about to curl up with the kitties.
Joan keeps trim with regular trips to the gym, pole dancing (she says it keeps her legs in shape), does voluntary work, raises money for charity, runs the London Marathon (three so far, including this year's), sky dives and... oh I could go on for ever, but she's making me feel exhausted.
It's soooo wrong!
Back to what's making Joan a favourite with the Sunday tabloids. She has a penchant for lying on a bed of nails wearing a leotard and fishnet tights with a man standing on her back.

And that's exactly what she did for Simon Cowell and the Britain's Got Talent judges. She met Ant and Dec ("They were very sweet") and frankly left them speechless. Walking onto the stage in a floppy hat and long coat, she resembled the archetypal mad bag lady.
As you'd expect, the judges and presenters really didn't know what to expect when Joan began to disrobe, revealing her fishnets et al. But, thankfully, I don't need to describe the act or the audition, or the reaction of Simon Cowell as it's been saved for posterity on YouTube.

So, sadly, our Joan didn't have the wow factor Cowell was looking for, for that coveted place at the Royal Variety Performance. However, she's not too distraught.
She still wants a part in a James Bond movie, and still hankers after the ultimate thrill - a wing-walk. And with her zest for life and ever-present smile hiding a steely determination, this supergran might just manage them both!
In her own words
