Bluehorses playing at Cambridge Rock Festival

The Bluehorses

Cambridge Rock Festival won't be a washout!

Fed up with the endless wet weather this summer? Do you have a passion for music festivals, but an aversion to getting down and dirty in the inevitable quagmire of mud that the rain will bring? Well, we’ve got a solution for you…

Eddie and the Hotrods at Cambridge Rock Festival

Eddie and the Hotrods

Why not try the Cambridge Rock Festival this August? The decision to make the entire festival under cover may prove to be a blessing in these curiously soggy times. Stage one is a large indoor arena and the second stage will be in the restaurant area; so you can grab a bite to eat whilst watching the bands perform. The third stage will be set in the grounds within a large marquee. So come rain or shine the atmosphere should be a good one.

The Cambridge Rock Festival, now in its 4th year, was previously called the Rockinbeerfest. But don’t worry, the organisers aren't actually going to do away with the beer! Beer will still be a big draw to many of the festival goers, with 70 varieties available from mainly small and micro breweries as well as mainstream brewers. Plus, there will be plenty of farmhouse ciders and perrys, wines and spirits to quench the thirst of those who don’t appreciate good ale!

The musical acts are getting bigger and better every year, and as a result the event is getting more and more popular with rock fans. Topping the bill in 2007 will be Thunder, and The Australian Pink Floyd Show. Bluehorses make a second appearance at the festival , and Eddie and the Hotrods have appeared every year. But there will also be plenty of smaller, local and new bands to discover in the marquee, including one of the top local bands to perform on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire’s Audiofiles programme.

There will be a selection of food available including Sunday Roasts and Thai food. Plus, to keep the kids entertained there will be a 'Pets Corner' featuring llamas, rabbits and donkeys, on the Animal Shelter site.

The organisers say they have sold a record number of tickets already. People are coming from all over Europe to attend the Cambridge Rock Festival— from the South of France to Norway.

When/ where/ how much?

The festival will take place at the Wood Green Animal Shelter, Godmanchester, from Thursday 16th August until Sunday 19th August. If you get your weekend ticket before Tuesday July 31st it’ll only set you back £69. From Wednesday 1st August full festival tickets will rise to £79. If you’ve got children under 10, full festival tickets are only £1 each. Rock on!
