Bridget Burrow and friends at The Mansfield Almshouses have taken the title.

Thank you for all of your entries, especially the other three very deserving finalists.

Our judges' decision was backed up by the votes cast before the competition was suspended.

As part of the prize, Sue Dougan In The Afternoon came live from the Mansfield Almshouses Garden Party on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire on Friday, 14th September.

Dr Tim Upson
Tim is the superintendent of the Cambridge University Botanic Garden where he has responsibility for its 40 acres and collection of over 8,000 species. He is a graduate of the Kew Diploma in Horticulture after which he undertook a MSc. and then PhD. at the University of Reading in plant taxonomy.

Richard Ayres MBE

Richard Ayres
Richard has had a long and distinguished career as a gardener. He served as the head gardener at Anglesey Abbey for over 40 years and more recently at Kirtling Tower. He is especially well known for his drifts of beautiful white snowdrops at Anglesey Abbey and has had the honour of having a snowdrop named after him

Claire is a technical writer for Garden News magazine which is based in Peterborough. Previously she has written for Royal Horticultural Society publications including The Gardener.
