Romsey - let's get it right

Stephen Simpson (EMRAG)
Campaigners for the redevelopment of the Romsey Town area of Cambridge's Mill Road are taking their fight to local residents - and they're taking local residents' wishes directly to the council planners...

East Mill Road Action Group (EMRAG) was established late last year and joined with Romsey Action in January 2007, after residents of Romsey became concerned about the dilapidated state of two large vacant sites at the east end of Mill Road.

Disused buildings
Railings surround the disused site

These are the former Magnet/Robert Sayle warehouse and the old Priory Motor Dealership.

These are large premises, which we understand from the City Council to have strong interest in redevelopment.  Residents have become concerned about how these sites might be developed, and how long it will take.  They also want urgent action on improving the neglected state of the two properties until redevelopment takes place.

Let's get it right

"It's an opportunity for residents to have an official 'funnel' into the design brief for this area"
Stephen Simpson - chairman, EMRAG

Future development of the two sites represents a unique opportunity to reflect the rich culture of Cambridge, as well as the local feel of Romsey Town; with a mixture of housing that benefits the whole community.

EMRAG decided to survey 3,000 local residents to get feedback on how they would like to see the sites developed.

Your voice counts...

Rubbish
Residents are concerned about the refuse

This is a chance for Romsey to have its say and the City Planning Office have welcomed this as an opportunity to hear from residents about their ideas and concerns.

They have assured EMRAG that these will be considered carefully as they produce the next draft of the development brief that will ultimately guide development of the two premises.

Concerned residents who would like to offer their opinion and have not received the survey can do this by emailing EMRAG at emrag1@gmail.com.
