Jeremy Sallis

Our Jezza is 5ft 11 of purebred Fenland! Son of a farmer, he's an enthusiastic lover of films, music and potatoes in all their forms! He presents the Cambridge Breakfast Show from 7 to 9am on 96FM - and the Audio Files on Thursdays from 6 to 7pm.

Q: The story so far...

A: Spawned in the Fens, the son of a farmer, I've been living in and around Cambridgeshire for the best part of 30 years. Despite a four-year gap travelling the world, there's no place like home.

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A: I did record the first ever 'Jeremy Sallis Show' on my sister's tape player when I was four, but abandoned broadcasting fame for dreams of opening the batting for England or playing lead guitar for Guns 'N' Roses.

Q: What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?

A: When I was 13, my mum once washed my underpants with a red sock, and when the girls at my school burst into the boys' changing room, everyone thought I wore pink Y-fronts. Funnily enough, I didn't have another girlfriend for the next five years.

Q: What's the worst job you've ever had?

A: Despite growing up on a farm and having an unnatural love for potatoes, without a shadow of a doubt, the worst job I've had was riddling potatoes, watching them come off the back of a trailer and throwing the mouldy, green ones off the conveyor belt. When all you see when you close your eyes is potatoes, that's not a good thing.

Q: Do you have a catchphrase?

A: You know I do!

Q: What was the first record you ever bought?

A: Huey Lewis and the News "Hip to be Square"

Q: What's your favourite food?

A: Anything with potatoes... I'm sorry about what I said before, I didn't mean it, I love you.

Q: When Hollywood comes calling, who'll play you?

A: Without a shadow of a doubt, Will Ferrell. I bear no resemblance to him whatsoever, physically or characteristically, but I think he's a comic genius and would just welcome seeing another Ferrell film.

Q: In a fire, what would you rescue first?

A: Along with the photos and keepsakes, it would have to be Bertha. She's three feet tall and wears a G-string, and also an A, D and two E strings.

Q: What do you do to relax?

A: When I get home, I'm more than happy just to open a beer and watch a film or play my guitar.
