Lexie Green, her band and Jez

The Audio Files

Join presenter Jez Sallis on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire between 6pm and 7pm every Thursday for live bands, live interviews and the latest on the local music scene... And this is the place to get YOUR band on the airwaves!

BBC Introducing: The Audio Files - THE place to get your band discovered.

WARNING. This show is dangerous. Already top executives at the BBC have to sit in on the show to make sure that the station isn't brought into disrepute and last week's band, I kid you not, had to call the police after the show had finished. You'll have to ask the band Storey for the full details but lead guitarist Arron would make a very good PCSO, that's all I'm saying!

Storey

Storey - last week's guests

Also turns out that we were all born in the same week in February and all come from the Fens which proves that harvest barn dances were probably more exciting than your parents were letting on! Check out their studio performance of Tell Me on the link below:

On this week's show, the Lexie Green Band, or as I like to call them, Lexie Green and The Sexy Boys. Don't ask me why because I can't remember and as you can tell from the photo, I think it would take more than these fine examples of Peterborough breeding to turn a red-blooded male like myself, especially when I'm within spitting distance of the stunning Lexie Green… not that I'm planning on spitting on anybody this Thursday from 6pm. See you there!

Get the CD...

If you've enjoyed listening to the acts we've featured on the show over the last few months, you can now get hold of the Audio Files CD, with live performances from Eliza Wren Payne, James Chadwick, Flipron, Ana Silvera, and - an old friend of BBC Radio Cambridgeshire - Boo Hewerdine.

If you want to drop Jez a line, email jeremy.sallis@bbc.co.uk, give him a call during the show on 08459 252000, text him on 07786 201960, visit his MySpace using the link to the right or use the Have Your Say box below.

If you would like a gig with HSM, drop them an email on info@hopestreetmusic.net.

Tune in to The Audio Files between 6pm-7pm every Thursday on 96FM, 95.7FM and DAB Digital Radio.

Chris
I wanna hear some Redbeat!

Drue James
Thanks for letting me play on the Audio Files. A film director in Canada was listening online and now wants to use my song 'Paper Heart' in his next film. Brilliant!

Arthur Clarke
Nice to see an ex-pupil doing so well.Don't forget the Wimbledon tickets. Not certain I can pick up your station in Arizona

Bee
It is brilliant to hear *new* music on local radio and much of it has been pretty good actually which has been an education. Clearly the music scene out there is better than one might have feared. Do not, under any circumstances, do away with this slot. Thank you.

James Chadwick
hey, thanks for having me on your show the other day..who said my music was "contemporary folk to traditional blues, with indie rock thrown in for good measure"? i quite like that tag! does me requesting nick drake and jeff buckley here give you an excuse to play it?! j x

dON vAN dALI
Thanks for being the first Radio show to ever play the new Conscious Pilot single: 'Sirens' from the 'Lonely Hotel Demos'. It was sad you had to edit out its epic 'seal coda' finale, but considering its adult content and the time of your show, it's no wonder ;) Shame the show isn't on even later so we can have some serious adult fun together.

Jumbo
Really liked the new slot. Great to hear music very different from what you usually hear on BBC Cambs

Emma S
Conscious Pilot

Van Gough
Newborn Theory! They're perhaps one of the best things to ever happen to the Cambridge music scene! Billie Joe Armstrong must cry himself to sleep at night for not writing Apathy, Mirrored and Lobotomy!

Phil
If you look closer at the venets Hope Sm do, you will see their is acoustic for all genres, full band nights for rock, indie etc, and a night for poetry, dancing, films, singing, bands etc. Hope Sm is there for the people of Cambridge to get involved in... fancy getting involved?

Munchkin
The problem is that Hope Sm have cultured a group of their friends into something that is not representative of the cambridge scene, it's so much bigger than folk pop at it's blandest
