Under strength Eaton Socon Colts Under 9's put in a strong team display to overcome a visiting Great Paxton side who had arrived unbeaten in the league. Despite missing one of their best players, Socon applied constant pressure to the away team's defence forcing them to put through their own goal twice in the first two periods. But Paxton managed to pull one back when the home keeper couldn't hold onto a deflected shot and it trickled agonisingly into the net. Socon were always in control and should have wrapped up the game by the end of the second period, but they failed to apply the finishing touches to some positive and probing approach play. They also had one effort ruled out by the referee as not having crossed the goal line. Then against the run of play Great Paxton pulled level, looking happy to have secured a draw. But within minutes Socon had sealed their victory with a superb bullet like header, scored by Defender Colin from an in swinging corner.
