RockTech:
Day 1 @ APU, Cambridge - Monday 9th August 2004
And
if you wanna be the teacher's pet,
Well baby you just better forget,
Rock got no reason,
Rock got no rhyme,
You better get me to school on time!
"It's
RockTech's 10th Anniversary and I went to the first rehearsal
to see how everyone was getting on. The turn-out seemed really
impressive with 50 students there with all their gear. I casually
strolled around asking the students what they played and then
sat with the instructors while orders were given out.
"To
fill you in on what's happening, the Rock School students
have been split into groups of bands where they have at least
a drummer, guitarist, keyboard and vocalist. From the 9th
13th August they will be practising at Anglia Polytechnic
University making songs, naming their band and making sure
that everything is perfect for the evening event happening
at Cambridge Corn Exchange on Sunday 15th August.
"The
standard of the RockTech Rock School is extremely high so
I am really looking forward to this event. On the 13th I am
going to the last rehearsal to see how they have developed
and maybe interview one or two bands on what they have done
in the past week.
"Tickets
are still up for sale for the 15th so go to the Corn Exchange
website www.cornex.co.uk
because I sense that this will truly be an entertaining night."
RockTech
runs the annual rock school, which is held in Cambridge during
the first or second week of August every year. RockTech also
run regular workshops every Saturday at The Warehouse audio
and TV studios in Fulbourn, just outside Cambridge. RockTech
operates as a not-for-profit organisation.
