4FT
Fingers @ The Met Lounge, Peterborough - Thursday 29th July
"The
first band I interviewed for 'Summer Rocks' is the unforgettable
4FT Fingers...
"My
second interview as Blast Reporter, Im cool, Im
calm and Im confident. I enter the marvellous Met Lounge,
with its big hall and spiral stairs and amazing atmosphere.
I ask around and discover that the drummer of 4FT was right
next to me. I casually walk over and ask if I could have an
interview...
"Dave,
the drummer was really friendly and walked me up the stairs
into the VIP lounge to get the rest of the band. Dougie, bless
him, was exhausted so we left him to sleep and the rest of
the band and myself began the interview outside on a little
balcony. We had a quick chat, and I straight away discovered
they love tattoos. Rob's are truly amazing with patchwork
up his arm and as Tom was falling asleep with his black sunglasses
on we began the interview:
How
was your Irish tour?
"It
was good. It went down well, first time there, no one really
heard of us but we had some really good gigs and we're definitely
going back."
(They're
now on their 'we're skint' tour, and then they have their
'East Pack' tour, then they're off to California at the end
of the summer for a couple of weeks.)
How
is touring, are you finding it alright?
"Its cool, weird, hard work, tiring, - its worth
it."
Any
words of advice
you give to bands trying to make it?
"Prepare yourself, and make sure you're ready to
tour."
What
genre would you say your music is?
"Punk-rock.
When we see people sing our words, it's a great reward."
Have
you got a new album out?
"'A
cause for concern' came out middle of May, I think it is our
best album yet, we have written some killer tracks on it,
it's not too fast its not too slow, its a mix
of our other albums, we all play so much better on it, we
have all developed as a band, written better songs and got
some real catchy tunes. A killer album."
The
band's final quote was.. "If you want to check us out,
our website is www.4ftfingers.com
and come to our gigs to have a killer time."
The
interview was funny, but went really well and the guys made
me feel really welcome. The interview was more like a conversation
which was really nice because after 10 minutes I realised
I was actually doing an interview.
After
the interview the lads went off to prepare themselves and
I stood at the front of the stage watching the back up bands.
Then 4FT entered, full of energy and Dougie looked alive and
ready for a full action packed gig. The crowd loved them and
had people singing their songs out loud and proud.
You
know the saying, "Cant handle the mosh, get out
of the pit"? Well that's exactly what I had to do as
they got the crowd going wild. Their songs had a real buzz
and made everyone in the venue smile. Dave is truly an amazing
drummer and Tom, Rob and Dougie all had such stage presence.
What
really made me love this band was the fact that Rob interacted
with his audience and made us feel like part of the show.
As the fists went up for one of their song's choruses I turned
around to see arms high up in the air. It was truly a fantastic
gig and these guys deserve to make it big. They have a few
music videos but I can tell there are going to be many more
to come. Thanks guys, for an amazing evening.
