"Before photographing the traditional thatch cottage I was reminded of postcard images of the 50s and 60s by John Hinde - saturated, primary-coloured images of stereotypical Irish scenes. I imagined a similarly colourful sunlit image of a cottage, flanked by something that dragged the scene into our contemporary world. I think the ubiquitous plastic chairs dominating the foreground achieve that aim..." (David Robinson)
