The
polls are closed, the votes have been cast and the counting will now
begin.
Candidates standing in eight seats across Bristol are anxiously awaiting
the results.
Come Friday morning, some of the city's MPs could be out of a job.
The city's most marginal seat - Bristol West - could go to any of
the three parties. It is expected to declare at between 3am and 3.30.
The first result in the city to be announced is likely to be Kingswood
at midnight, closely followed by Woodspring at 12.30am.
Bristol South and Wansdyke should declare at 1am with Northavon expected
at 1.30am. The declarations at Bristol East and North West should
come in at around 2am.
The Returning Officers' first job will be to separate the local and
general election ballot slips.
The number of general election slips will be counted before the individual
votes on them are tallied.
Local election ballot papers are not due to be counted until tomorrow
morning, with a result expected around lunctime. |
