They
took the name of their local pub in Southmead who were their
main sponsors for their first four years.
Now playing in the regional third division the team has managed
to stay in the league retainimg many of its founder members
including; Phil and Chris Harbury, Mark Rugman, Roy Davies and
Shaun Snell.
Wayfarers first home was Pen Park School but following its closure
two years ago the team moved to Greenway.
The team's original strip colours were white and blue but following
their move to Greenway they changed to yellow and blue stripes.
Manager Phil Harbury is very optimistic for the coming season
after a successful
merger with the Saturday League team, St Georges.
"With the merger of the two clubs we now have a fantastic
opportunity to take the club forward," he said.
"It is great that a lot of the original members are still
playing for us. Combine that with the new players and the exciting
youngsters who made the step up,and the new season is looking
promising.
"Although the team spirit is fantastic funds remain a problem,
all the lads are doing their best to bring in money for the
club but finding a main sponsor is proving difficult.
Players to look out for this season include young and talented
goalkeeper Ryan Sykes, centre-back Chris Harbury and pacey Roy
Davies and midfield powerhouse Mark Rugman.
