Firsty,
do you love books? Do you check this site regularly to find
details of which authors are coming to this fine city?
If
yes, then read on.
We
are looking for people to review author events in Bristol.
We
will arrange a ticket to the event (usually held in one of
the city's book shops), so all you have to do is go along
and listen to what the wordsmiths have to say, write us a
review and we will do the rest.
If
we can get hold of a copy of their book, then you could even
take a look at that for us.
Remuneration
is a guest byline on the piece.
Interested?
Then contact dickon.hooper@bbc.co.uk
Include
your contact details and any particular events coming up that
you would like to review.
Plus,
because we are so good to you, we have had a pre-spring clean
of our book shelves.
Win
free books
As
such, we have 16 mixed titles to give away to eight lucky
winners.
This
is not part of our quest for reviewers, just an act of generosity
on our part: so to enter, you do not have to become a reviewer,
just answer one simple question correctly.
The
books are mixed.
There
is fiction (Chris Browns' exploration of Bristol football
violence in Bovver, e.g.) and non-fiction (Secret
Underground Bristol, by Sally Watson, e.g.).
Low-brow, high-brow, adult lit and kids stories: it is all
here in a Reading Room special lucky dip.
You
can add your preference to your answers if you like, but we
make no guarantees.
Anyone
who wants to enter the prize draw just has to answer this
question correctly:
Who
wrote The Dictionary of Bristle?
And
we want the names of both authors please.
This
competition has now closed and the winners will be notified
by post. The correct answer was Harry Stoke and Vinny Green.
