Big names - in the buff

Fancy the chance to see George Bush and Tony Blair naked? No?

Ok, well how about Marilyn Monroe then? A bit more tempting, I'm sure you'll agree.

Well thanks to a new exhibition at the Royal West of England Academy you can see all three, alongside works by Picasso and Henry Moore.

It's all part of Naked, the RWA's latest show, which examines the portrayal of the human body in contemporary art.

Anita Taylor's All and Nothing is one of the works on display

Among the most popular pieces on show are photographs of 'Tony Blair' with George Bush and Cherie Blair by mistress of illusion Alison Jackson, whose images of celebrity lookalikes in compromising situations have sparked controversy and giggles in equal measure.

Other painters, printmakers, and photographers whose work is featured include Elizabeth Blackadder, Sonia Lawson, Ken Howard and Roger Hilton.

Art fans who find themselves inspired by the works on show can go along to the gallery on Thursday 15 July from 10am to 12.30pm when RWA Academician Dawn Sidoli will be leading a figure drawing session (bring your own materials, admission £6, phone 0117 973 5129 to book a place).

And for those who would prefer to look and learn rather than participate, the gallery is offering two guided tours or the exhibition.

On Sunday 18 July at 2pm, sculptor, RWA vice president and co-ordinator of the Naked exhibition John Huggins will discuss the works on display.

On Saturday 24 July former RWA vice president Jerry Hicks willl lead a group of visitors around the artworks.

Naked is on at the Royal West of England Academy in Queen's Road, Clifton, until 31 July. Open 10am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 2pm to 5pm on Sunday. Admission £2.50, concessions £1.50.
