The
magic of childhood weaves its spell on stage at the Hippodrome
during July.
David Wood's adaptation of the classic tale of Tom's Midnight
Garden by Philippa Pearce, won the Barclay's Best Play for Children
Award in 2001 and is currently on it's first major UK tour.
It comes to Bristol care of the Birmingham Stage Company, a
group renowned for its high quality family shows.
Many will remember the story of Tom's Midnight Garden, a favourite
since the 1950s, from their own childhood. |

It
tells the a magical story of two friends separated by an invisible
divide.
It all begins when 10-year-old Tom hears the grandfather clock
in the hallway strike 13 and travels back in time to the Victorian
era.
He is transported to a wonderful secret garden where he meets
orphan Hatty and the two commence on a series of adventures
that are both exciting and fun and also very moving.
But, with each new journey through time, strange things begin
to happen - and Tom must solve the mystery of the Midnight
Garden!
Certainly one suitable for the whole family, the show should
appeal to anyone over the age of about five.
Directed
by Graeme Messer, the Bristol production stars Stefan Butler
as Tom and Claire Cooper as young Hatty.
