A shock rippled around the city on Tuesday afternoon, as the weather flung up a surprise for Bristol.
In this undoctored photograph, we have spotted at least 15 flakes - can you see more?

A phenomenon, last seen almost a year ago, put many inhabitants in a festive mood.

Many were heard proclaiming "Snow!", and the rest popped into the shops to buy themselves a hat and gloves.

Finger points to flakes
As our ace reporter spotted, the flakes began to settle on car roofs at around 1400 GMT on Tuesday.

Within minutes, there was even more ... even more hats were sold, and several people shouted "Damn, it's cold!"

Cars battled against the blizzard on Queens Road.

It's like the Alps, isn't it?
Many were snowed several feet under, as the avalanche crippled city services.
