Wright commutes in to the BBC on Whiteladies Road each day
from Cardiff. He takes the train to Temple Meads, and then rides
his bike to work. |
06.50
Fall out of bed in Cardiff. I need to get myself organised to catch
the 7.30 train to Temple Meads.
Riding through the capitals streets at this hour means light traffic,
I pass John the window cleaner balancing his buckets on his bike
and the HGV driver I thanked for his courteous driving one day who
has waved to me ever since.
07.25
A
quick
scramble up the steps of Cardiff station, fold up the bike and onto
the train. I now have 40 mins to relax, indulge in my reading or
chat to my gang of fellow commuters.

08.20
Arrival in Bristol.
Unfolding the bike I hit the Temple Meads traffic, its
a
different kettle of fish over here you constantly scan the roads
for inattentive drivers cocooned in their cars.
Thankfully some of the more difficult parts of my journey are now
bus and cycle lane only so its getting easier all the time.
08.25
Now
the worst part of the journey, the hill on Park Street.
It never gets any easier, but after that its plain sailing.
08.30
Arriving
at work I now have time for a shower, breakfast and then its on
with the days tasks.
