One of
Bristol's most popular theatres has flung open its doors to
reveal the secrets of the stage.
Thousands
of theatre-lovers travel to the Bristol Hippodrome every year
to enjoy a variety shows from ballet to pantomime.
The
Hippodrome is primarily a touring venue and plays host to some
of the top shows in the country.
The building in the centre of Bristol survived a massive fire
in the 1950s. The main stage and many of the backstage rooms
had to be rebuilt.
Since then the theatre has hosted all sorts of productions from
ice skating to pantomine.
For more than 30 years John Randall has been the theatre's technical
director. His team carry out their secret work behind the scenery
and props almost every night of the year.
John gave Bristol Online a guided tour behind the scenes at
the Hippodrome.
