Under
new plans, if enough people register their interest in having
broadband, BT enables the exchange for the service.
The
Pill area now has 230 registrations, which is 57% of the 400
people and businesses they need.
The
exchange covers the Avonmouth and Shirehampton areas of Bristol.
Slightly
higher up the list is Combe Down, between Bath and Bristol.
According
to adslguide.org, they have 279 registrations, which is 69%
of the total they need.
If
you are in either of these areas, and you want broadband,
then you can register your interest with BT here: http://www.bt.com/broadband/
Gamers online
Good
news for subscribers to Telewest's broadband service, Blueyonder.
The
company has partnered with Microsoft for the Xbox Live service.
You
will be able to play games from the new console online through
Blueyonder.
The
Microsoft gaming service is in beta test at the moment, with
plans for a full launch next March.
Wireless
in Easton
The
website for the new Easton 'Clan' (Community Local Area Network)
project has popped up.
The
Easton Community Centre is home for the new network, which
has amazingly been set up entirely through volunteers and
goodwill.
The
network also has some great plans for online broadcasting.
Primarily,
these events would be from Easton's community centre.
The
website is absolutely fantastic, and has tonnes of information
about the network.
It
is also packed full of wireless networking info as well, if
you want to teach yourself a thing or two!
You
can find the site here:
